Prasad v. Connecticut General Life Insur. Co., 2000 U.S. App. LEXIS 18153 (9th Cir. Jul. 24, 2000)(Unpublished)-This court affirmed the district court's summary judgment against Prasad in his claim for long-term disability benefits. The court found that although on the surface it appeared as if CGLIC offered inconsistent reasons for its denials (which would trigger a less deferential standard of review), "taken as a whole, Prasad . . . failed to show that CGLIC's inherent conflict of interest actually influenced its decision to deny Prasad benefits." Only one of six denial letters was inconsistent, and Connecticut General Life substantiated its decision with strong medical evidence.
